Graduate Student Xisco Jiménez awarded a FPI-CAIB grant

17 January, 2013

Xisco Jiménez Forteza, a new member of our group, has just been awarded one of only 14 FPI-CAIB grants for PhD students. This competitive grant, co-financed by the European Union, provides funding for four years and its aim is to turn graduate students into researchers.

Xisco is a former UIB Physics student, where he had Sascha Husa as advisor for his undergraduate thesis “Computation of gravitational waves signals generated by binary systems”. Afterwards, he attended the Canary Islands Astrophysics Institute to carry out a Master of Science in Astrophysics, specialization in in computation and theory. His Master Thesis is “Simplified analysis of the spectral distortion in the microwave background radiation”, directed by Juan Betancort and Jose Alberto Rubiño.

Xisco PhD's Thesis advisor is Alicia Sintes, with whom he will work on the field of gravitational waves. With the new addition of Xisco to our group, we have already three graduate students, all of them with FPI or FPU grants.

Congratulations, Xisco!
