Conference dinner

Wednesday, 9th September, 20:30h:

The social dinner will take place at the Sa Cranca Restaurant, http://www.sacranca.es located in Paseo Maritimo 13,  Palma (near the Auditorium). A map of the location of the restaurant can be found here.

The restaurant can be reached from downtown Palma with a pleasant walk along Palma’s maritime promenade (Paseo Maritimo). One can also go to the restaurant by bus line 1, Airport-Palma-Port, (see route, schedule) and line 50, Touristic Bus, (see route and schedule, map). In the night line 41, “Bus de Nit“, (see route, schedule) stops near the restaurant.

The SEGRE public lecture  will take place at the Auditorium of the CaixaForum Palma ,”la Caixa” Foundation,  located in Plaça Weyler 3, 07001 Palma.

Speaker: Dr. Esperanza López Manzanares of the Instituto de Física Teórica-CSIC, Madrid
Title: “Viviendo en la frontera: una introducción al principio holográfico“

Abstract: “La gravedad, fuerza que configura el universo, encierra importantes preguntas abiertas. El mejor ejemplo de nuestra limitada compresión son los agujeros negros, zonas donde la fuerza gravitatoria es tan intensa que ni la luz puede escapar. Sus propiedades implican que para describir la física gravitatoria dentro de una región, basta con información que se puede almacenar en la superficie que la rodea. Esta propiedad es radicalmente distinta a lo que sucede en las demás interacciones, recordando a como un holograma codifica imágenes en tres dimensiones.”
